Cameron and I had such a relaxing honeymoon. We were back and forth about where to go up until a couple of months before our wedding. Some people are mountain people and some a beach people, and we are 1000% the latter. So we decided to go to the Atlantis in the Bahamas! Our resort was beautiful to say the least. Most people associate the Atlantis resort with the big salmon colored building with the waterpark, but what most don’t realize is that Atlantis has multiple resorts itself.
We stayed at The Cove Atlantis because of its modern luxury feel and access to the adults only pool! This is definitely a must considering we went in the summer time. We spent most of our honeymoon at the pool. The palm trees, cabanas, and music was a total vibe and we even had food options from their outdoor bar. The beach was a few steps away from the pool area and it was beautiful. I don’t think I’ve seen water that clear…ever. You could walk in and still see your feet AND see the all the fish swimming around you!
After we had some time to relax after the pool we got ready for dinner at either The Cove or The Royal. Both have great options, but for a more nightlife scene we would take the shuttle to The Royal.
Where to eat:
The Mosaic- We had breakfast at The Cove’s buffet every morning and it was delicious! They had all the breakfast foods you can think of and delicious fruit. I always saved some fruit to take to the pool area. There’s nothing like fresh cold fruit by the pool!
Nobu- Dinner at Nobu is always delicious. Nobu is located at The Royal, so we had to take the shuttle over from The Cove. I got some sushi and Cam had the steak (he’s not huge fan of seafood).
Olives- This spot is a different feel than Nobu, but also located at The Royal. It’s more casual and open late night for those who decide to do excursions or play in the casino. We usually ordered the chicken and pasta. I would recommend calling in a reservation in advance- they have a beautiful patio area overlooking the water.
Fish by Jose Andres- We had a tough time deciding if we wanted to have dinner here because it was mainly seafood, but we did and I am glad we did! Their ambiance is eclectic and the seafood is fresh. There were even some options for those that do not eat seafood. We shared the Vermicelli Mac ‘n’ Cheese and I had the Shrimp ‘n’ Grits while Cameron had the Jerk Chicken.
Sea Glass- This is a cute bar at The Cove that serves light bites and cocktails. They had upscale great service and we enjoyed grabbing a nightcap here before heading back to our room.
Where to explore:
The Atlantis has various offerings for all people. There are excursions that are worth looking into if you are an adventurer and there are private dining experiences that one could request for a romantic evening. Exploring the whole Atlantis property itself is an adventure!
Royal Casino- If you are into the casino scene, The Royal has a good one! I am personally not into it, but Cameron enjoyed it. I will say- it is nothing like Vegas. It’s a lot smaller and harder to sit down at a table since there’s so many people waiting.
Marina Village- One day we decided to get on the shuttle and explore this small village that is also part of The Atlantis property. It gets very hot so it is best to go in the evening when the sun is setting. They have a lot of local shops and restaurants and bars. We had some ice cream at their Ben & Jerrys-delicious!
